Please join us October 26th for the Maritain Theology Forum! This week Jacob Saliba (Cushwa Center/Global Catholic Research Initiative) will present on "How to Narrate Religion."
Each meeting consists of a presentation on a project in theology or an adjacent discipline, followed by a period of comments/questions from other participants. The workshop is designed to give contributors the opportunity to develop ideas and receive helpful feedback on projects/papers in a friendly and low stakes environment.
Abstract: After World War II, several religious philosophers in Europe focused on the concept of narrativity and its relationship to religious truth and historical objectivity, debating if the events of history could hold objective coherence as part of a divine order—and if so, how. I will examine one strand of this debate in the French tradition through the work of Paul Ricœur, showing that his narrative tools still hold resonance for questions of religion today.
Lunch is provided for registered attendees.
