Project Title: Describing Human Action
My research is in the philosophy of mind and action. I work to elucidate fundamental concepts in the ordinary understanding of human action, such as intention, causation, and voluntariness. My main inspirations are Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, and G. E. M. Anscombe.
Biography
John Schwenkler is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Illinois. His research is in the philosophy of mind, action, language, and ethics. He is the author of numerous papers and of Anscombe's Intention: A Guide (Oxford University Press, 2019).
